President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, the Presidency has said.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later on Tuesday evening.
The President is scheduled to visit Lagos first to honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, widely regarded as a symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle and the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
On Independence Day, Tinubu will attend the premiere of a film commemorating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
The Presidency said Tinubu would also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos over the coming days as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending one week in London before travelling to Paris.
During his stay in Paris, the President attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group.
He also met with Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings, on Monday.
Last week, Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
DP World, a global ports and logistics company, plans to invest $7 billion in the seaport and economic zone.
The President is expected to return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
