Hon. Zahraddeen Abubakar has emerged as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the House of Representatives seat for Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State after recording a sweeping victory in the party’s primary election held on Monday.
Hon. Abubakar, a former Executive Chairman of Gwaram Local Government, secured a total of 5,119 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abubakar Sani, who polled 207 votes in the exercise conducted across the 11 wards of the constituency.
The official result released by the party showed that Hon. Abubakar won overwhelmingly across the wards with the following votes:

Dingaya Ward – 400 votes
Fagam Ward – 896 votes

Kondiko Ward – 508 votes
Maruta Ward – 139 votes
Sara Ward – 475 votes
Tsangarwa Ward – 276 votes
Zandar Nagogo Ward – 287 votes
The result gives Hon. Abubakar a winning margin of 4,912 votes over his challenger.
Party supporters and stakeholders described the outcome as a clear indication of his growing acceptance and strong grassroots support across Gwaram Federal Constituency, citing legacy projects he executed during his stint as Council Chairman.
With the victory, Hon. Zahraddeen Abubakar will fly the ADC flag in the forthcoming general election for the House of Representatives seat, Gwaram Federal Constituency.
Hon. Abubakar is also a former Special Assistant on Youth and Sports Development to Ex-Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, during the latter’s stint as Jigawa State Governor.
