Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries, alleging widespread irregularities and voter disenfranchisement.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Amaechi described the results as manipulated and insisted he would only accept the outcome if the process was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
He alleged that nearly 80 percent of party members were denied the opportunity to vote during the exercise, questioning how the ADC would be different from other political parties if such alleged malpractice was allowed.
Amaechi’s rejection of the results comes amid growing tensions following the conclusion of the party’s presidential primary election.
