Bauchi approves 100% salary increase for health workers

The Bauchi State Executive Council has approved a 100 per cent upward review of salaries for medical and healthcare workers across the state.

Speaking with journalists on the outcome of the council’s meeting presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sani Muhammad Dambam, said the salary increment would be complemented by the introduction of special allowances for health workers posted outside local government headquarters.

Dr. Dambam further disclosed that the council approved the implementation of outstanding promotion for over 2,000 healthcare workers in the state.

Similarly, the council also approved the award of contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of eight roads, culverts and drainage systems in various communities to address infrastructure and flooding challenges in the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, explained that the approved construction of culverts and drainage systems in Duguri community of Alkaleri LGA, Ningi town and Walai in Itas/Gadau LGA WAs aimed at mitigating the devastating effects of flooding in the affected communities.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Works, Professor Titus Ketkuka, revealed that the Council approved over N9bn for the design and construction of additional roads in Bauchi metropolis, as well as the rehabilitation of Rimin Zayam
