BREAKING: Kano Central Senator Rufai Hanga Quits NDC

Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, who represents Kano Central Senatorial District and serves as the Senate Deputy Minority Whip, has resigned his membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a resignation letter dated August 3, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the NDC in Dakata Ward, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Hanga said his resignation takes immediate effect.

The lawmaker stated that his decision followed careful reflection and personal deliberation, explaining that he was leaving the party to pursue other personal commitments and career paths.

Hanga expressed appreciation to the ward leadership, the executive committee, and members of the party for the support, opportunities, and camaraderie he enjoyed during his time in the NDC.

He also directed the party to remove his name from its ward membership register, noting that he had returned his official NDC membership card.

The senator wished the party and its members success in their future endeavours.

However, Hanga’s resignation letter did not disclose whether he intends to join another political party.
