Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned political singer, Muhammadu Buhari, popularly known as Kosan Waka, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 47.
The Governor’s condolence message was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the family, the late singer will be buried at Tsanni village in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Governor Yusuf extended his heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, particularly his mother, as well as his friends, associates, admirers and the people of Kano State.
He described the late Kosan Waka as a patriotic son of Katsina who built his career in Kano, noting that his music transcended politics and served as a powerful tool for promoting unity, preserving culture and enlightening the public.
The governor prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, expand his grave and give his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
He noted that Kosan Waka was one of Kano’s most celebrated political singers, whose talent, creativity and captivating performances earned him admiration across Nigeria.
Governor Yusuf said the late singer’s contributions to political communication and the Hausa entertainment industry would remain indelible.
He added that the Kano State Government joined the entertainment industry and millions of the singer’s admirers across the country in mourning the painful loss, while praying for Allah to grant him eternal rest.
