The Kuje Area Council has announced a change in the designation of one of its recently created offices.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, approved the redesignation of the office initially titled “Special Assistant, Dance” to “Personal Assistant on Performing Arts and Cultural Development.”
According to the Council, the adjustment was made to better capture the scope of responsibilities attached to the role.
While the original title suggested a narrow focus on dance, the new designation emphasizes a broader mandate covering arts, culture, and creative development within the Area Council.

Hon. Shekwolo explained that the change reflects the Council’s commitment to promoting cultural heritage and supporting creative industries.
He noted that performing arts play a vital role in community identity and youth engagement, and the office will serve as a platform to harness these potentials for social and economic growth.
The Council stressed that all other details regarding the appointment remain unchanged.
The redesignation is not a replacement of the individual appointed but rather a refinement of the office’s title to align with its intended functions.
Observers say the move demonstrates the Council’s recognition of the importance of cultural development in local governance.
By broadening the scope of the office, the Council is expected to encourage initiatives that highlight traditional values while also embracing modern creative expressions.
The Kuje Area Council has in recent years sought to expand its focus beyond infrastructure and basic services to include programs that foster community cohesion.
