NDC’s Lone Kano Senator Says Kwankwaso, Obi Can’t Win 2027 Presidential Poll

The senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Rufa’i Sani Hanga, has said that former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cannot win Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Hanga, who is the only senator under the platform of the NDC, made the remarks during an interview with Freedom Radio in Kano on Tuesday.

According to him, Kwankwaso’s political influence is largely limited to Kano State, and “not even the entire state,” while he claimed that Obi would be unable to win in any state across Northern Nigeria.

“Our areas of political strength are Jigawa and Katsina. Those who moved with us to the ADC have remained in that party and did not join the NDC,” Hanga said.

The lawmaker, however, expressed confidence in former Vice President and ADC presidential hopeful Atiku Abubakar, saying he has a strong political base in Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, and other states in the North-East, which he believes gives him a better chance of winning the 2027 presidential election.

Hanga’s comments come amid reports of a rift between him and the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, following the senator’s failure to secure his party’s nomination ticket.
