BREAKING: Appeal Court Upholds Judgment Restricting INEC From Recognising ADC State Congresses

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld a Federal High Court judgment restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising or participating in any state congresses organised by the faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark.

The appellate court delivered the ruling on Monday in a split decision of two justices to one, affirming the earlier judgment delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on April 29, 2026.

The ruling means that INEC remains barred from recognising the state congresses conducted by the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC pending any further legal developments.
