President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as a leader of integrity, humility and strong commitment to public service.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Governor Yusuf’s leadership style and achievements since assuming office.
President Tinubu noted that Governor Yusuf’s administration reflects dedication to grassroots development and the improvement of the welfare of the talakawa, a legacy associated with the late Mallam Aminu Kano, whom he described as a symbol of progressive politics in Northern Nigeria.
Governor Yusuf was elected in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). He previously served as Kano State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport between 2011 and 2015 during the administration of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
According to the President, Yusuf’s experience in managing key ministries prepared him for the infrastructural transformation currently underway in Kano State.
“He has embarked on urban renewal programmes, constructing bridges and expanding road networks, including the ongoing five-kilometre road projects in each local government area of the state,” Tinubu said.
The President also praised the governor’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector, noting that it has led to improved performance by Kano students in recent NECO examinations.
President Tinubu wished Governor Yusuf long life and continued success, expressing hope that his leadership would bring further development and progress to Kano State.
Governor Yusuf marks his 63rd birthday on January 5, 2026.
