Police ‘detain’ two for criticizing Kano LG chairman

Police have allegedly arrested two persons for criticizing Tofa Local Government chairman.

This was following  Facebook posts in which the duo allegedly accused the council chairman, Ibrahim Yakubu Addis, of abandoning a road project.

Murtala Garba Doka and Shamsu Safiyanu Lambu, popularly known as Shamzeet Lambu, were reportedly picked up on Monday on the orders of the chairman following Facebook posts criticizing him.

Shamzeet Lambu had accused the chairman of failing to complete the Lambu–Banki–Yarimawa–Jakata road project, said to have been approved by the state government at a cost of about ₦240 million.

Lambu wrote, “240 Millions kudinmu a Burji Allah Ya Saka Mana Wlh,” meaning “Our ₦240 million in Burji, may God reward us.”

The duo were detained at Tofa Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai for further investigation.
