NSCDC Arrests Suspected Marijuana Dealer, Hands Him Over to NDLEA in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspected marijuana dealer and handed him over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

The State Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the NSCDC headquarters in Kano on Thursday.

According to Bodinga, operatives of the Corps in Doguwa Division, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted and arrested the suspect, identified as Yusuf Alasan, 25, a resident of Doguwa town, along with two others — Muktar Musa and Musa Sani — on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at about 2:30 a.m.

He said the suspects were apprehended at Riruwai Gate in Doguwa Local Government Area while transporting three large sugar-sized sacks filled with marijuana from Doguwa town to Kafau within the same local government area.

“Preliminary investigations have been concluded by the Corps. In the spirit of synergy and collaboration, we are handing over the suspected drug dealer and his accomplices, along with the exhibits, to the NDLEA Kano State Command for further investigation and necessary legal action,” the Commandant stated.

Bodinga reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, while maintaining close cooperation with other security agencies to rid Kano of criminal activities.

He also commended the media for their continued support and called for sustained collaboration in promoting peace and security across the state.
