NYSC to Blacklist Organisations That Fail to Provide Accommodation, Transport for Corps Members

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Olakunle Nafiu, has warned that organisations that fail to provide accommodation and transportation for corps members serving under them will be blacklisted.

Nafiu issued the warning during a workshop held in Lokoja, Kogi State, aimed at improving the welfare of corps members serving in organisations across the state.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the security and welfare of corps members and called on state governments, local government councils, and other stakeholders to strengthen their support for the NYSC scheme.

The NYSC boss urged corps members to prioritise their personal security by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. He also advised them to remain disciplined, dedicated to their duties, and avoid misconduct throughout their service year.

Nafiu further encouraged corps members to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, urging them to develop practical skills and identify business opportunities within their host communities.

He advised them to begin earning legitimate income where possible and to use their service year as an opportunity to cultivate sound financial management habits.

The Kogi State NYSC Coordinator, Tochi Chris-Moneke, commended the Director-General for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of his commitment to the welfare and security of corps members and NYSC staff.
