INEC Omits Gwarzo’s Name From Kano Governorship Candidates’ List Over Court Order

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released an updated list of candidates for the 2027 Kano State governorship election, omitting the name of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

The updated list, dated October 31, 2026, showed that the space provided for the NDC governorship candidate was left blank, with the commission indicating “Court Order” in the remarks column.

The development suggests that INEC is acting in compliance with a court directive affecting the party’s governorship ticket in the state.

However, the electoral commission has yet to provide further details about the specific court order that led to the omission of Gwarzo’s name.

Gwarzo had previously been recognised as the NDC governorship candidate for Kano State ahead of the 2027 general election.
