The Federal Government has announced plans to reduce the price of petrol at Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) filling stations for the next 30 days.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja.
Oyedele said the temporary price reduction would include a discount on petrol sold at NNPC stations, with priority given to public transport operators.
“There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters,” he said.
The minister also disclosed that the Federal Government had negotiated a new landing cost for petrol, which would be reviewed monthly.
According to him, the measures are aimed at reducing the burden of fuel costs on Nigerians, particularly public transport operators and commuters.
Further details on the exact discount and the new petrol price were not immediately disclosed.
