JIBWIS, Muslim World League convene conference on extremism, national security

Nigeria is set to host a historic a landmark International Conference on National Security for Sustainable Socio‑Economic Development, with a strong focus on countering extremism, as eminent Islamic scholars, policy makers, security experts, and international stakeholders gather to discuss pathways to peace, stability and inclusive development.

The conference, which will be convened by Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria), in strategic collaboration with the Muslim World League, is scheduled to hold August 12, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The conference is designed to foster dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and chart a sustainable path toward peace, stability, and development.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is expected to declare the conference open, while distinguished personalities including judicial leaders, security experts, and international delegates, will participate as guests of honour and keynote contributors.

 

Organizers said the collaboration between JIBWIS Nigeria and the Muslim World League reflects a shared commitment to promoting diversity, social harmony, cooperative engagement across communities, and peaceful coexistence. It builds upon previous high‑level engagements between world Islamic and Christian leaders, reaffirming the belief that religion and cultural diversity remain powerful forces for unity, stability, and societal progress.

The conference programme will feature High‑level plenaries session on national security and development within a global context; Dialogue sessions focused on diversity inclusive coexistence; expert panels on countering extremism and strengthening community resilience; global partnership roundtables aimed at advancing sustainable socio‑economic development.
