A fire outbreak occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
In a statement, FAAN confirmed that no casualties or loss of life had been recorded following the incident.
The authority said its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) responded immediately and was working to contain the fire.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Our Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation. There have been no reported casualties or loss of life,” the statement said.
FAAN added that further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
The latest incident comes months after a fire broke out at Terminal 1 of the airport on February 23. Following that incident, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Umar, disclosed that the fire had completely disrupted the terminal’s air-to-ground communication system.
