Nigerian crossdresser and social media personality, Bobrisky, has revealed that she undergoes an HIV test every six months despite not being sexually active for several years.
In a post shared on her Instagram Story on Monday, Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, said the routine is part of her commitment to preventive healthcare and maintaining peace of mind.
“I’m so weird. Every six months, I still go for an HIV test—even though I haven’t been with anyone in years. God knows I just don’t like taking chances or relying on medication. Prevention and peace of mind will always win,” she wrote.
Bobrisky, one of Nigeria’s most controversial entertainment figures, has largely kept her romantic life out of the public eye in recent years.
In 2021, she said she chose to live as a woman after struggling for years as a man without making the progress she desired. She also stated that identifying as a woman had opened up more opportunities for her.
According to Bobrisky, women possess significant influence but many fail to fully utilise it. She added that life was more difficult for her when she lived as a man, saying she often lacked opportunities and recognition, a situation she believed changed after embracing her female identity.
