The Supreme Court of Nigeria has granted an application for accelerated hearing filed by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
The apex court directed all respondents to file their necessary processes within five days and subsequently fixed April 22, 2026, for further hearing of the appeal.
The decision followed deliberations on the timeline for filings. A rival group reportedly aligned with Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu had initially proposed a 20-day period. After discussions, parties agreed to shorten the timeframe to 10 days.
However, the court further reduced the period to five days, underscoring the urgency of the matter and the need for expeditious resolution.
Further details are expected as proceedings continue.
