President Bola Tinubu has assented to the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill, 2026, formally enacting it into law.
The development follows the passage of the bill by the National Assembly on Tuesday after months of legislative deliberations and consultations.
The newly signed legislation repeals the existing Electoral Act, 2022, and re-enacts an updated legal framework expected to guide the conduct of future elections in the country.
