The Effects of Trump’s Utterances Against Nigeria

By Salisu Mubarak Muhammad

The effects of President Trump’s utterances left Nigeria almost exhausted, quietly but diplomatically revolted and disgusted.

In almost every fundamental aspect, the authentic existence of Nigeria as a sovereign nation largely depends on the independent expression of reciprocity and mutual benefit with other advanced countries around the world.

Therefore, accepting the validity of what appears to be a negotiating phenomenon itself is a troubling process.

To avoid the possibility of war, collaboration matters due to the fact that the notion of peace, directly or indirectly, ties to the agency upon which the two nations perceive themselves.

Both physical and non-physical aspects of such security collaboration can not only shape the pattern of futurity but share the burden of responsibility from the both sides.

However, the question remains how critical one must appear to be about taking pressing issues discussed between the United States of America and Nigeria out of familiar context – generating possible errors in reasoning.

In the last couple of days, President Bola Tinubu might have reshuffled his cabinet in order to satisfy the terms and conditions of the collaboration.

With Badaru’s resignation as Defence Minister, however, it resonates hope and optimism for the future.

Certainly, Christopher Musa – a christian from the North whose nomination to succeed Badaru views as an appeasement to the christian minority – can be part of the terms of collaboration with the United States of America in a recent engagement.

This security partnership symbolises a grounded commitment built on balanced interest, shared values, reflection of timing, and courage to defeat terrorism.

If the collaboration succeeded, it would facilitate a favourable ground to reflect on strengthening institutions – the nature of communication, and how we navigate our shared experiences.
