Coach jailed for sodomizing player in Kano

Kano State High Court has sentenced one Hayatu Mohammed a well known football team coach in Kano to eight years imprisonment without an option of fine after finding him guilty of committing sodomy against his minor player.

The convict, a resident of Sanka quarters of Dala LGA of the state, was found to have committed the offence twice at different locations

Prosecuting counsel Barrister Ibrahim Arif Garba presented five witnesses and testified against the defendant and in his defence the convict testified as the sole witness.

Presiding Judge Dahuru after reviewing all the witnesses’ testimonies and the evidence presented during the trials upheld that the defendant committed the offence as charged and Sentenced him to four years for each of the counts.

The offence contravenes Section 284 of Penal Court Code Law.

He also further ordered that the Sentences run concurrently beginning from the day of the judgment.
