Tinubu to Address Nigerians on 66th Independence Anniversary

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address Nigerians on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The address is scheduled for 7:00 a.m., according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga urged television and radio stations, as well as other electronic media outlets, to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.

Nigeria gained independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.

The President’s address is expected to form part of activities marking the anniversary.
