Many people are feared dead after a helicopter reportedly crashed in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday in the coastal community, causing panic among residents.
Details surrounding the crash remained sketchy as of press time, while the identity of the helicopter and the number of people on board had yet to be established.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the crash but said residents were still unable to determine the exact location of the incident.
“Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, initially said he was unaware of the incident when contacted.
He, however, promised to make further checks and get back to journalists.
As of press time, there was no official confirmation of the number of casualties or details about the aircraft involved.
