A Bauchi-based political group, the Shehu Buba Contact and Mobilisation Committee, has disclosed that it has raised N50 million to purchase the governorship aspiration form for Senator Shehu Buba ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group said the gesture was aimed at demonstrating its support and confidence in the lawmaker’s ambition to contest the governorship seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Recall that on March 18, Senator Buba declared his intention to contest the governorship position in Bauchi State on the platform of the APC.
Speaking during a press briefing held on Monday at the Bauchi State Press Centre, the Chairman of the committee, Muhammadu Sade, said the contribution reflected the collective resolve of members and supporters to back the senator’s aspiration.

He said, “Today marks a significant moment in our collective political journey and our commitment to the progress, unity and development of Bauchi State.
“After wide consultations, deliberations and a thorough assessment of the political landscape, we, as stakeholders of the APC, have resolved to support and present a credible, competent and people-oriented candidate in the person of Senator Shehu Buba.”
Sade added that the group’s action underscored its unwavering support for the lawmaker, describing him as a leader with the capacity to deliver good governance.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the committee, Mukhtar Abubakar, said the N50 million raised for the purchase of the nomination form symbolised more than financial support.
“In furtherance of our resolve, we are pleased to formally inform the public that we have collectively raised the sum of N50 million for the purchase of the APC governorship nomination form for our distinguished son and leader, Senator Shehu Buba.
“This gesture is not merely financial; it is symbolic. It represents our total confidence in his leadership capacity, his proven track record, his accessibility to the grassroots, and his unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people over the years,” he said.
Abubakar noted that the group’s decision was also driven by the need to reposition Bauchi State for sustainable development, economic growth, improved infrastructure, quality education, enhanced healthcare delivery and inclusive governance.
He called on members of the APC across the state, party leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders to rally round the senator and support his aspiration in the forthcoming party primaries and the general election.
The secretary further assured the leadership of the APC that the decision to support Buba emerged from a transparent, inclusive and democratic process reflecting the wishes of the people.
He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to unity and victory for the APC, expressing optimism that the party would emerge stronger and more successful in the state.
