The Federal Government College Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA) has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division seeking to stop what it describes as an unlawful attempt to convert land belonging to Federal Government College Kano into private estate under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.
The suit, filed in Abuja and assigned to Justice Inyang Ekwo, lists several defendants including the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the Pluck Global Company Limited, the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, and the Attorney-General of the Federation. The first hearing has been scheduled for July 8, 2026.
FGCKOSA said it resorted to court action after repeated attempts to obtain full details of the alleged land-swap and concession arrangement were unsuccessful. According to the association, critical documents such as approval records, valuation reports, and Federal Executive Council decisions have not been disclosed despite formal requests to relevant agencies.
The group alleges that about 30 hectares of school land are being earmarked for private residential and commercial development under the PPP arrangement, a move it argues violates the purpose for which the land was originally acquired and reserved for educational use.

It further raised concerns over alleged continued activity on the site despite a pending court order in Kano restraining further action on the disputed land. FGCKOSA claims that markings and preliminary works were observed within the school premises, describing the development as an attempt to proceed despite ongoing judicial proceedings.
In its prayers before the court, the association is seeking declarations that Federal Government school land cannot be converted into private ownership without due legal process, as well as an order nullifying any concession or transfer arrangement relating to the disputed land. It is also requesting a perpetual injunction restraining all parties from further interference with the property.
FGCKOSA said the case is not limited to FGC Kano but raises wider questions about the management and protection of public educational assets across the country. It urged all parties involved to halt any ongoing activities pending the court’s decision, while calling on the Attorney-General of the Federation to ensure adherence to the rule of law.
