Court Remands Man Over Alleged Threat to Release Abba Yusuf’s Nude Videos, Photos

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Sanusi Dankaka at the Kuje Correctional Centre over allegations that he threatened to release nude videos and photographs of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Dankaka was remanded by Justice Salim Ibrahim after being arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) on a two-count charge.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In a charge sheet marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026 and filed on October 22, 2026, the DSS alleged that Dankaka committed the offences in October.

The secret police alleged that the defendant claimed to possess nude videos and photographs of the Kano governor and threatened to make them public.

The DSS further accused Dankaka of publishing the alleged threat on his Facebook page, identified as *Sunusi Dankaka Yahaya*, alongside other persons who are still at large in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to the agency, the alleged publication was intended to cause annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury to the governor.

The DSS said the alleged offences contravened Section 27(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended, and are punishable under Section 24(1) of the same law.

At Monday’s proceedings, DSS counsel, Yusuf Afegbua, told the court that the prosecution was ready to proceed with the trial.

Counsel to the defendant, Kauna Penzin, also informed the court that the defence was prepared for trial.

After the charges were read to him, Dankaka pleaded not guilty.

Afegbua subsequently asked the court to fix a date for trial and order the defendant’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre. Penzin did not oppose the application.

Justice Ibrahim adjourned the case until December 7, 2026, for trial and ordered that Dankaka remain in custody at the correctional facility.
