The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency by-election held Saturday across three LGAs of the state.
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of the former representative of the constituency, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, who died on June 12 in Abuja.
The results, announced by INEC, showed that Engr. Kallamu of the APC scored 41,121 votes, while the candidates of the Labour Party (LP), scored 3,553 votes, Allied Peoples Movement (APM), 872 votes and National Democratic Party (NDP), 707 votes, respectively.

With 41,121 votes, Engr. Kallamu of the APC secured the highest number of votes and emerged as winner of the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency by-election.
According to the electoral body, a total of 47,301 votes were cast, out of which 46,551 were valid, while 750 votes were rejected.
Daily Trust reports that the election was conducted across the constituency’s 903 polling units in 31 Registration Areas covering the three LGAs of Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye.
