The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Saidu Yahaya, has resigned from his position.
Yahaya reportedly submitted his resignation letter to the Kano State Government on Tuesday amid alleged pressure over concerns about the performance of the commission.
Following his resignation, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf appointed Barrister Hafsat Ada’u Kutama as the acting chairman of the commission.
Kutama previously served as the Secretary and Legal Adviser of the PCACC. She was appointed to the position by the state government in August 2025.
Yahaya had been heading the commission following the expiration of the tenure of its former chairman, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado.
Governor Yusuf had previously expressed concern over what he described as a decline in the commission’s activities after Muhuyi Magaji left office.
The governor said the commission had lost some of its effectiveness in carrying out its mandate of combating corruption and addressing public complaints in the state.
