The Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS) has elected Comr. Sadiq SK Zango as its new National President during the 2026 NACOS National Convention held in Uyo.
Zango emerged victorious after what organizers described as extensive consultations, stakeholder engagements, and a competitive electoral process involving delegates, chapter presidents, and student leaders from tertiary institutions across the country.
Observers at the convention described the outcome as a major turning point for the association, reflecting growing calls for inclusive, institutionally driven, and nationally balanced leadership within Nigeria’s student technology community.
In his acceptance speech, Zango said his victory represented “a victory for unity, inclusiveness, institutional progress, and the collective future of Nigerian computing students.”
He pledged to focus on strategic coordination, institutional reforms, stakeholder engagement, and measurable impact during his administration.
According to him, his leadership would prioritize strengthening NACOS structures nationwide, expanding opportunities in technology and innovation, promoting inclusive participation across geopolitical zones, and deepening partnerships with local and international stakeholders.
He also vowed to improve the welfare, professional development, and visibility of computing students while positioning NACOS as a stronger voice in Nigeria’s technology and youth development sector.
Before his election, Zango served as NACOS National Vice President for International Affairs and was actively involved in student leadership, youth mobilization, and stakeholder coordination.
The convention attracted delegates, technology stakeholders, student leaders, and chapter executives from tertiary institutions across Nigeria, further reinforcing NACOS’ reputation as one of Africa’s largest student technology associations.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the new leadership would usher in a more stable, inclusive, and strategically coordinated era for the association.
