Kano Killings: Gov Yusuf Vows to Sign Death Warrant, Offers Hajj, House to Bereaved Father

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has vowed to sign the death warrant of any convict found guilty in the gruesome killing of a woman and her six children in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano State.

The governor made the declaration on Wednesday during a condolence visit to the bereaved family, as he approved a comprehensive welfare package for the children’s father, including sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house and full social support.

The assurance was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf said justice would be pursued to its logical conclusion, directing the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track the prosecution of suspects already arrested in connection with the killings.

“Anyone found guilty will face the full wrath of the law,” the governor said, stressing that he would personally sign the death warrant once the court concludes the trial and secures a conviction.

He added that the same measure would apply to the killers of Hanifa and the perpetrators of the Gezawa arson attack, where several people were burnt to death, once the courts deliver their verdicts.

Beyond justice, the governor announced far-reaching support for the bereaved father, including the allocation of a new and befitting house, full welfare assistance, and support to remarry should he choose to do so.

Governor Yusuf said the intervention was aimed at rehabilitating the victim, restoring his dignity and helping him rebuild his life after the tragic loss.

He also commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for their swift response and collaboration that led to the arrest of the suspects.

In a gesture of appreciation, the bereaved father donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school to serve the Chiranci Dorayi community.

The governor prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and to give their family and the people of Kano State the strength to bear the loss.

In a related development, Governor Yusuf also paid condolence visits to the family of the late Dr. Bature AbdulAziz, President of the National Patriotic Elders Forum for Peace and Unity, describing him as a patriotic elder and advocate of peace and national unity.

He further visited Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board, to condole with him over the death of his mother.
