Kano gov’t recruits 400 mathematics teachers

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented permanent and pensionable appointment letters to 400 newly recruited Mathematics teachers for deployment across secondary schools in the state.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the recruitment is a direct response to subject gaps that have affected students’ performance and career readiness.

The governor said Mathematics remains the foundation of science, technology, engineering and innovation, stressing that Kano must build a strong base to compete in a knowledge-driven world.

Governor Yusuf noted that the new teachers are expected to significantly enhance teaching quality, improve examination outcomes and strengthen students’ pathways into STEM fields.

He commended the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) for conducting what he described as a transparent and impactful recruitment exercise.

The governor urged the new teachers to demonstrate passion, commitment and professionalism in their duties, adding that they must justify the confidence the state has placed in them.
