The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended one Nasiru Junaidu (30) of Nayi Nawa, in connection with the alleged defilement and child abuse of a minor, a nine-year-old female.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
He said the suspect was arrested by operatives of the ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters in Damaturu.
According to Abdulkarim, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the victim into a shop several times within the Timber Shade area of Damaturu.

He further stated that the victim was rescued and taken for medical examination, while the suspect remains in custody.
He added that investigation is ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the Gender Unit at the State CID for further action and prosecution.
