By Uzair Adam

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery and attempted murder that occurred in Lagos State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Saturday.

“Thanks to strong intelligence gathering and collaboration with the community, the Kano State Police Command has made a major breakthrough in a recent armed robbery case,” Haruna said.

He explained that on September 11, 2025, tactical operators acting on intelligence apprehended the suspects at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano.

They are identified as Mathew Adewole, 25, from Na’ibawa Quarters, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, from Unguwa Uku Quarters, Kano.

During interrogation, Adewole reportedly confessed to attacking a Lagos resident known as Lil-Kesh at Bera Estate, Chevron, on August 19, 2025.

The victim suffered serious injuries, including a deep neck wound.

“The suspect forced the victim to transfer N2,120,000 from his bank account via mobile phone to Mukhtar Muhammad’s account,” Haruna added.

He further noted that, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Kano Command has intensified intelligence operations and strengthened community policing efforts to tackle criminal activities.

The suspects have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the officers for their professionalism and thanked residents for their support, assuring the public of continued collaboration with other security agencies to maintain safety across the state.

“Armed robbery remains a significant security challenge in Nigeria, often spanning multiple states. The command remains committed to maintaining law and order through coordinated efforts with stakeholders,” the statement added.

Earlier, the Kano Command also reported the arrest of three suspects linked to a robbery in Abuja, where a stolen vehicle was recovered.
