Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Thursday presented permanent appointment letters to 4,315 newly employed teachers.
The governor said that the teachers, under the BESDA scheme, had successfully completed their internship.
He added that the move is part of his administration’s efforts to transform education sector in the state.

“As you are inducted into this noble profession, I urge you to teach with passion, serve with integrity, and dedicate yourselves to nurturing the minds and shaping the character of our children,” he said.
The governor also announced plans to recruit an additional 2,616 qualified teachers to strengthen the state’s education system.
According to him, his administration has promoted thousands of staff, invested heavily in teachers’ welfare, and disbursed N200 million under the teachers’ loan scheme to ease financial burdens.
He added that the government had embarked on the rehabilitation of schools, construction of new ones, and distribution of books and learning materials across the 44 local government areas.
Other interventions include the provision of 440 motorcycles and 300 tablet computers to school support officers to enhance supervision and productivity.
Yusuf also announced the reopening and upgrading of some schools to boarding status.
