The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu, in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2026, after suspected hoodlums reportedly broke into the deceased’s residence and attacked him with sharp objects.
The Police said the report was received from the Commander of the Gaida Vigilante Group, following which officers from the Kumbotso Police Division responded to the scene.
Danshagamu was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
The operation was conducted by the Kumbotso Divisional Police Officer, in collaboration with tactical units of the Command and community stakeholders.
The two suspects are currently in Police custody and are undergoing interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other persons who may be connected to the crime.
The Police said statements are being obtained and forensic procedures are underway to determine the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
CP Bakori expressed concern over the incident and condoled with the deceased’s family, assuring residents that the perpetrators would be identified, arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
The Command also commended the Gaida Vigilante Group for providing timely information that enabled a swift Police response.
It urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the Police through the nearest station or the Command’s emergency lines.
The Police said additional patrols and intelligence-gathering operations had been deployed in Gaida and surrounding areas to maintain peace and prevent further incidents.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
