Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Cutting Off Boyfriend’s Manhood in Kano Hotel

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman for allegedly mutilating her 25-year-old boyfriend while he was asleep in a hotel in Badawa, Kano.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, told BBC Hausa that the incident occurred around midnight on Monday. He said both the suspect and the victim are indigenes of Jigawa State, although the incident took place in Kano.

According to Kiyawa, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect travelled from Maigatari in Jigawa State with a knife, which police believe was used in the attack.

He said the suspect told investigators that she carried out the act while the victim was sleeping after taking medication for a headache, which caused him to fall into a deep sleep.

“After the incident, she dragged him to the bathroom to wash away the blood before people nearby noticed something was wrong and alerted the police,” Kiyawa said.

Responding to speculation that the victim may have been drugged, the police spokesperson said there was no evidence to support the claim. He noted that investigators recovered a bottle of Lacasera soft drink and water from the hotel room and are examining them as part of the ongoing investigation.

Kiyawa confirmed that the victim survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

He added that the police had not previously encountered a case in which a victim’s genitals were completely severed.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. She is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
