Police arrest Man for Allegedly Defiling Minor in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 26-year-old man, identified as Otaru Jonathan, over alleged defiling a 14-year-old girl in the State.

The incident reportedly happened in Afokoella axis of Okpella community Etsako East Local Government of Edo State.

The State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, said the operatives of the Okpella Police Division received a report concerning the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl in the area.

 

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect took the minor on a motorcycle to an uncompleted building at Afokpella axis of the community where he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

According to him, the suspect after reportedly having sexual intercourse with the minor subsequently gave her ₦2,000, so as not to disclose the act to anyone.

He said the victim was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and attention, adding that the suspect was subsequently arrested and remains in custody.

Daaor explained that investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would be arraigned in court.
