The Kano State Police Command has announced robust security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Takutaha celebration scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, warning troublemakers to stay away from the festivities.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended residents for their peaceful, orderly and united conduct during previous Takutaha celebrations.
Bakori also appreciated traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders and sister security agencies for their continued cooperation in maintaining peace and stability across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command has deployed proactive security measures to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration.
The measures include intelligence-led operations, 24-hour visibility patrols, stop-and-search operations, as well as the deployment of tactical and surveillance teams to celebration venues, entry and exit points, and identified flashpoints.
The police commissioner warned that the command would not tolerate thuggery, violence or any act capable of disrupting public peace during the celebration.
He advised troublemakers and miscreants to stay away from the festivities, stressing that anyone arrested for violating the law would be prosecuted.
The command also acknowledged the support of the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, vigilante groups and other stakeholders whose contributions, it said, had helped sustain peace and stability in the state.
The police urged residents to celebrate responsibly and remain law-abiding, while encouraging them to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
