The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two additional suspected cases of Ebola virus disease and 53 primary contacts, raising concerns over the potential spread of the deadly infection.
The Director-General of the NCDC, Dr Jide Idris, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
According to the agency, the two suspected cases are being identified as part of ongoing efforts to monitor and respond to the potential threat of the disease.
The 53 primary contacts are also expected to be relevant to the public health response, as health authorities work to establish possible exposure links and prevent further transmission.
However, the NCDC has yet to provide further details on the suspected cases, including their locations, the conditions of the individuals involved, or whether laboratory tests have confirmed the infection.
The agency is expected to provide additional information as investigations continue.
