The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, was absent at the Nasarawa Durbar led by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, sparking reactions among residents.
Traditionally, the Emir visits the Government House to pay Sallah homage to the governor and top government officials, during which the governor usually delivers an address.
However, this year, Governor Yusuf was not seen at the event. Instead, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Isma’il Falgore, represented him in receiving the Emir.
The Kano State Government explained that the governor’s absence was due to his participation in an important engagement. According to officials, he is currently in Lagos attending a meeting of governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reports further indicate that the governors are expected to visit the President after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ibrahim Adam, confirmed the development in a Facebook post, stating that Governor Yusuf is in Lagos for the APC governors’ meeting, while the Speaker represented him at the reception for the Emir.
