Youth stabs friend to death in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old youth, Mustapha Isma’il, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Halifa, 24, to death following a minor argument.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the incident occurred on December 26, 2025, at about 8:30pm at the Sheshe area of Kano metropolis.

“On receiving an emergency call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, deployed personnel to the scene. The victim, who was found bleeding, was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital where a doctor confirmed him dead,” Kiyawa said.

He added that the suspect was immediately apprehended and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to him, preliminary interrogation revealed that Isma’il stabbed the deceased in the stomach after a quarrel.

“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect, who has already pleaded guilty, will be charged to court upon completion.

“We call on people, especially youths, to remain calm and avoid resorting to weapons whenever they have misunderstandings,” the PPRO said.

Narrating his side of the story, the suspect said that the fight started while they were watching a movie on a phone in front of a shop and Halifa came running, while he warned him not to spoil his phone in the process.

He claimed that the deceased hit him with an object during the argument, which made him bleed.

“I went home, brought a knife and stabbed him. Later I heard he died. I regret my action. Had I known he would die, I wouldn’t have stepped out of my house that day,” he said.
