Yellow House has emerged winners of the 2026 Junior Secondary School (JSS) Kuchiyako Inter-House Sports Competition, which took place over the past week in Kuje.
While Yellow House amassed the highest points, Red House finished second, Green House placed third, and Blue House came fourth.
Students participated in a variety of events, including cultural dances representing Hausa, Gbagyi, Yoruba, and Igbo groups, as well as track and field events, penalty shoot-outs, tug-of-war, sack races, board games, “catching the train,” “sorting the ball,” “backing the doll,” running in daddy’s shoes, egg-and-spoon races, and many other fun physical activities.
The Principal, Mrs. Oko Victoria Mafo, welcomed the special guest of honor at the closing ceremony, congratulated the winners, and encouraged all students to continue putting in their best efforts in future competitions.
The Vice Principal, Mrs. Avomasi Lydia, explained that the Inter-House Sports Competition is designed to balance academics and sports, quoting the popular adage, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
In a related development, Mrs. Okpara Ann, the school’s Sports Coordinator, noted that sports have always been an integral part of the school curriculum. She added, “This annual event allows us to showcase our students’ fitness and talent to parents, and it remains one of the biggest highlights of our academic calendar.”
