President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Shekarau’s exemplary record of public service, describing him as a teacher, administrator, and politician who has made significant contributions to national development.
The President recalled Shekarau’s rise from a classroom teacher to the position of permanent secretary in the Kano State Civil Service before venturing into politics in the early 2000s. He lauded the former governor’s landmark victory in the 2003 elections and his human-centered approach to governance during his two terms in office.
President Tinubu also highlighted Shekarau’s service as Minister of Education between 2014 and 2015, and later as Senator representing Kano Central from 2019 to 2023.
He expressed gratitude for Shekarau’s enduring dedication to the country and prayed to Allah to grant him good health and long life to continue serving the people of Kano State and Nigeria at large.
