Shekwolo Wins Kuje Chairmanship, Pledges Health Reform Education

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has been declared winner of the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election held on February 21, 2026, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The election results were announced by the Returning Officer, Professor Nkiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja. Shekwolo secured 17,269 votes to defeat his closest rival, Zakwoyi Danlami of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 15,824 votes.

In his victory speech, Shekwolo pledged to deliver quality service to the people of Kuje Area Council, promising improvements in healthcare delivery, a comprehensive revamp of the education system, and empowerment programmes for women and youths.

He emphasized the need to focus on core development priorities for the greater interest of residents, assuring that his administration would consolidate on existing achievements while accelerating new development initiatives.

The chairman-elect also commended the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.
