The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, months after her suspension.
The seal, which had been on the office door since March 6, was removed by the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji. The Kogi Central senator was suspended for six months over allegations of gross misconduct and violation of Senate rules.
It remains unclear under whose directive the seal was lifted or whether Akpoti-Uduaghan has been cleared to resume legislative duties when the Senate reconvenes on October 7.
The development comes despite the Senate’s earlier stance that the lawmaker would not be reinstated until her legal case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio is concluded in court.
