The Nigeria Police Force has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all personnel attached to Very Important Persons (VIPs) across the country.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by ASP Neji Veronica, who explained that the directive followed the order of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces mandating the removal of police escorts from VIPs.
According to the statement, the Commanding Officer directed that all personnel of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 16 currently deployed to VIPs and various beats nationwide return to base without delay.
“The Commanding Officer directs, with immediate effect, the withdrawal of all personnel of SPU Base 16 attached to VIPs/beats across the federation back to base,” the statement read.
It further warned that all affected officers must report before the end of Monday, November 24, 2025, and attend the lecture parade scheduled for the following day.
“Attendance shall be taken from the nominal roll,” the statement added.
The Police urged all affected personnel to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
