PDP Crisis Deepens as National Secretary, Other Wike Loyalists Suspended

The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new dimension as the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several other top officials believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, were suspended on Saturday.

The National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, announced their suspension after a marathon meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

According to Ologunagba, other suspended officials include the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); the National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature; and the Deputy National Legal Adviser.

Sources within the party disclosed that the affected officials, all known allies of Wike, had allegedly stopped attending NWC meetings for some time.

They were suspended for a period of one month and referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee for further action.

The development comes a day after an Abuja High Court restrained the PDP from proceeding with its planned national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Despite the court ruling, the PDP leadership has vowed to appeal the judgment, insisting that preparations for the convention will continue.

The ongoing disagreements within the party have been cited as one of the major factors behind the legal challenge seeking to halt the convention.
