Kano: Troops Rescue Seven Kidnap Victims in Tsanyawa, Four Still Missing

Troops of Operation MESA, made up of personnel from the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, and the Nigerian Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims during a late-night operation in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The security team reportedly received a distress call around 11 p.m. on 29 November 2025, alerting them to bandit activity in Yankamaye Cikin Gari village. The troops responded immediately and engaged the bandits, who had already killed a 60-year-old woman before security forces arrived.

Following the initial contact, the troops pursued the attackers along their escape route toward Rimaye, exchanging fire and successfully rescuing the abducted victims. However, four other kidnapped persons remain missing.

The bandits were said to have fled toward Kankia Local Government Area in Katsina State, and efforts are ongoing to track them down.

The Commander of the 3 Brigade commended the troops for their swift and courageous response and called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.

The statement was signed by Captain Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
