Kano Assembly Set to Receive 2026 Budget Proposal from Governor Yusuf

The Kano State House of Assembly is preparing to receive the 2026 Appropriation Bill from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, following a formal communication from the executive arm.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly.

Reading the governor’s letter during plenary, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, said the presentation is in line with Section 121 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). He quoted the governor as expressing readiness to lay the 2026 budget before lawmakers on Wednesday.

According to the letter, the proposed budget contains key programmes and essential services aimed at advancing the welfare of Kano citizens.

Supporting the governor’s request, Majority Leader Hon. Lawal Hussain Dala noted that the legislature is fully prepared to scrutinize the budget once it is formally presented.

Presiding over the session, the Speaker applauded members for their dedication and wished Governor Yusuf a safe return to the state ahead of Wednesday’s budget presentation.
